Hey everyone, Jole Gills here. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the incredible response to our debut EP, "Fog Watch." This project, honestly, it's been a massive endeavor, a raw outpouring of emotion and the kind of creativity that comes from letting go of expectations. To see it connect with so many of you is… well, it's deeply gratifying.

"Fog Watch" isn't just a collection of songs to me. It's an experience, a descent into the fractured mind of Ian, this solitary figure trapped in a lighthouse, surrounded by an unending fog. It’s a story I needed to tell, and the accompanying narrative was crucial in bringing that world to life.
Critical Acclaim and the Immersive Story
The feedback from publications like Buzz Slayers and Regen Magazine has been incredible. They really seemed to get what I was trying to do. Buzz Slayers picked up on the blend of ambient soundscapes and the raw, visceral lyrics, which was exactly the atmosphere I wanted to create. Regen Magazine focused on the grim narrative, which is the heart of the whole project.
But the review from Liars Pacifist… that one really hit me. They truly understood what "Fog Watch" was about. They said:
"I believe very much that the music that comprises this amazing EP is the very definition of creating art, unbound to so called set expectations or standards of society, of the industry. This music is as free as free gets. A pure and true representation of what happens when you allow your ideas to sprout, and blossom in to something transcendent. Immerse yourself in the world and story of Fog Watch."
They went deep into each track, dissecting the emotional weight and how it tied into Ian's story:
"Fog Watch" as the perfect introduction to Ian's isolation.
"Thankful" exploring the weight of feeling unappreciated and the masks people wear.
"RIZEN" as a dark, predatory force.
"Siren" depicting Ian's chaotic fight or flight.
"Trenched In" as a suffocating, tragic end.
"Bombay Way" as a sinister, false tranquility.
The Power of Breaking Molds
Liars Pacifist also said:
"I feel that Gillsaw is a rare gem among the rough, stagnant pool of artists that get all the love. Gillsaw is fresh and doesn’t care one bit about fitting a mold. Rather. Gillsaw becomes whatever his seemingly boundless mind can create. 5/5…brilliant!"
That truly resonated with me. It perfectly captured my intention. I didn't want to conform to any stereotypes. I aimed to create something genuine, something that reflected the raw, unfiltered human experience.
A Heartfelt Thank You
The overwhelmingly positive response to "Fog Watch" has been incredibly humbling. I put my heart and soul into this, and seeing it connect with all of you means more than I can express. Thank you to everyone who has listened, read, and delved into the world of "Fog Watch." Your support inspires me, and I can't wait to see where this journey leads us. There's more to come. Lots more. Stay tuned.
